Creating stained glass may look intimidating, but at Caveman Glassworks we make it simple, hands-on, and fun. Whether you want to “try it out” or you’re ready to jump in as a new hobby, choose the path that fits you and leave with a project you’re proud to display.

Option 1: Beginner Stained Glass: Experience

Perfect for first-time students who want a relaxed introduction without buying a tool kit on day one.

 

What’s included: 

  • Learn the full process: cutting, shaping, foiling, soldering, and finishing

  • Use Caveman Glassworks’ professional tools and shared supplies (we provide everything you need in class)

  • Work with a beginner-friendly pattern and zinc frame

  • Take home a finished stained glass piece you made yourself

 

Best for: curious beginners who want to try stained glass before investing in their own tools.

Option 2: Beginner Stained Glass: Package

Ideal for students who already know they want to continue creating at home after class.

 

What’s included: 

  • Learn the same complete process as the Experience path

  • Receive a starter kit of tools and key materials to keep, so you can continue creating after class

  • Work with a beginner-friendly pattern and complete your project with professional finishing

​

Best for: new hobbyists ready to build momentum with tools and materials for at-home practice.

What You’ll Learn

Our beginner workshop focuses on essential skills so you can feel confident creating your very first project.

 

During the class, you’ll learn:

  • Glass Cutting Basics – How to score and break stained glass safely and accurately

  • Shaping Glass Pieces – Techniques for refining cuts and fitting pieces to your pattern

  • Copper Foil Application – Wrapping edges for strong, clean joins

  • Soldering Techniques – Creating smooth, polished solder lines

  • Finishing Touches – Cleaning, patina, and polishing for a professional look

By the end of the session, you’ll have a completed stained glass project ready to display at home.

Class Details

  • Duration: Three to four class days, 2–3 hours each

  • Skill Level: Beginner-friendly — no experience needed

  • Materials: All tools and supplies provided during class

  • Takeaway: A finished stained glass piece, ready to hang or gift

  • Instructor: Paul Urteaga — stained glass artist and owner of Caveman Glassworks

Who Should Attend?

​This class is perfect for:

  • Anyone who loves hands-on learning in a relaxed, friendly environment

  • Youth Policy: Children 13–17 years old (and 18-year-olds still in high school) must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. A liability waiver and safety form must be completed by parent or legal guardian and submitted to Caveman Glassworks at time of registration and payment.

Important: Participation in any Caveman Glassworks class, workshop, or event requires a signed Liability Waiver on file. Students under 18 or 18-year-olds still in high school must have a parent or legal guardian complete and sign the waiver at the time of registration. No student will be permitted to begin class until this waiver is signed and submitted. Forms will be made available on the first day of class.
