Before Placing a Custom Order

Things to Consider:

Find a stained glass artist that does custom work

Great work - you found us! Now, let's work to get an even clearer picture of what you need and want. This will help us come up with a design that meets your exact specifications. Be sure to provide us with all the details so that our team can deliver exactly what you are looking for. Let's get started!

Determine Location and Size

If hanging it, the size should be large enough so that it has at minimum, two inches of clearance all around. If having it fit a window, then measure the inside of the window frame and provide those exact measurements for the perfect fit. Lastly, make sure to consider the direction the curtains will hang in, so that when the curtains are fully open, it will provide the amount of light and privacy desired.

Determine the type or style of design you want

The best way to create a stained glass piece that meets your vision and expectations is to provide me with photos of pieces you like or a sketch to better visualize what it is you are looking for. This way, I can get a better idea of your design preferences and create something special just for you. With this information, I can create a one of a kind piece that captures the essence of your imagination and makes it reality.

Determine how much you want to spend

Creating stained glass pieces involves many factors, including the size, type of glass and complexity of the design. As such, it's important to provide a budget up front so that the design can be tailored accordingly. Costs vary, so knowing the exact budget in advance is key to creating the perfect stained glass piece.

Determine when you need it

Of course! If you have an idea of when you need the project to be completed, please let us know and we'll let you know what's possible. We'll assess the complexity of the project and provide an accurate timeline for delivery.

Determine glass types and colors - See Examples Here

Think about where your custom piece will be displayed and how much privacy or visibility you want to have. Consider glass type and color to meet these needs, such as whether a clear, frosted, translucent, or opaque glass is best. You can also think about distortions and reflecting light off the glass to create different effects. These all make a difference in which glass type and color is best.

We have encountered customers who insist we choose the colors and glass styles for them. Nope!!!  This is your custom piece and the final call on your glass and colors is up to you. You have the authority make the choices that will be most suitable for your home or office. Our team is here to help provide our suggestions and guide your ideas, but ultimately it's up to you. You are the customer and we work for you.

There are three main types of stained glass—"cathedral” which is transparent and more sparkly, and “opalescent” which allows light but cannot be seen through, and clear textured.  Keep in mind, there are many more types of stained glass utilized in creating stained glass art however, these are the three main types.  You can use one or all three of these types in any stained glass piece and each type is beautiful in its own right.  However, each has characteristics that may make one more suitable depending upon where you want it displayed.
